A boundary is used to group components in the 3D view. It is a selection mechanism where you set up a 3D volume of space, which contains the components you want and then manipulates those components as a group. You can use boundaries to supplement the creation of work packages but boundaries also can be used whenever you want to select a set of components. A boundary can be used in more than one work package. You can save the boundaries for future use and they are stored in the database so others can use them.

The tools in the Boundary tool box are used to create the boundary. This toolbox opens from the Tasks dialog. The Boundary dialog shows a list of boundaries that already exist; this dialog is dockable.
